    What are lumens?


    A lumen is a unit that measures luminous flux, or the total amount of visible light emitted by a source.  The lumen can be thought of as a measure of the total amount of visible light emitted.  For example, a standard 100 watt incandescent bulb emits about 1500 lumen.

    How much will it cost to do an LED retrofit?


    The project cost depends on the size of your building and the resulting energy and maintenance savings.  For the majority of our projects, the upfront cost is usually recouped within 2 ½ years.

  • How much are these systems and how much money will I save each year? (Or, how long will it take to pay back my investment?)

    How long do LEDs last?


    LEDs do not suddenly burn out, rather they fade over time.  As with any lighting, the useful life depends on operating hours.  Quality LED lighting are expected to have a useful life in the range of 30,000 to 50,000 hours.  50,000 hours would imply 5.7 years if the light is operated 24 hours per day.

    Is the life of an LED reduced if it is frequently turned on and off?


    Unlike discharge lamps, LEDs are semiconductors and their life is not affected by the number of times they are turned on and off.

    Are LEDs considered a green technology?


    Yes, LEDs are considered a green technology because they use less energy than most other light sources.  Additionally, LEDs do not contain hazardous materials such as toxic mercury.
