You’re About to Miss the 179D Tax Deduction

On December 31st, 2016 the 179D Tax Deduction opportunity will be gone. This portion of the tax code was meant to expire in 2014 but was extended two years to benefit building owners that invest in energy efficient improvements to their property including interior lighting, building envelope, or HVAC. If these improvements lead to a 50% deduction in energy usage you will qualify for up to $1.80 per square foot in tax deduction. Deductions of $.60 per square foot apply to those that retrofit individual systems to partially qualify by meeting certain building target levels.

It’s important to note the benefits of an LED lighting retrofit as well as how an LED lighting retrofit works.
